Where can I find a restroom in downtown Chicago?
Almost anywhere with foot traffic. Stores, hotels, coffee shops and food halls all have them. Macy's on State Street is the easiest walk-in in the Loop. If you'd rather not go into a business, the Chicago Cultural Center on East Washington is free and open every day, as is every Chicago Public Library branch.
Does Chicago have public restrooms?
Not on the street, no. The city doesn't run any downtown. The public ones it does have are in the parks and along the lakefront. Those are seasonal.
Where can I find a restroom in Chicago in winter?
The park and lakefront restrooms shut for the cold months. They generally open around late spring and close in late October, so from fall through spring you're going indoors. The malls along Michigan Avenue and the museums are the easy stops.
Do Chicago's L stations have restrooms?
No. CTA rail stations don't have public restrooms and haven't for decades. Metra is the opposite. Union Station and Ogilvie both have them inside the terminal.
